Chelsea team news ahead of Atletico Madrid game
Chelsea are all set to host Atletico Madrid in the Champions League and Football.london has provided some team news ahead of the game. The Blues are ahead on aggregate in the tie with Giroud scoring the winner in the first leg.
With such a vital clash to come, Chelsea could well be without four players. Two are ruled out due to suspension for accumulation of yellow cards and the other two are injured. Mason Mount and Jorginho are suspended after getting yellows in the first leg and Tuchel spoke about how important they were.
“They are two key players for us,” the German coach said. Especially Mason for his offensive skills and his power to break the lines with dribbles and shots. There is a small line between arguments and excuses, so while they’ve been important players so far, we have a group in which we compete in this competition.”
Then there are the two injury absentees Thiago Silva and Tammy Abraham.
“So now is the challenge to adapt and find solutions because we will play without the two guys. We will also need to play without Thiago Silva and Tammy Abraham.
There are no more injuries [apart from those two]. So we will without four players and that makes our selection easier because we can choose 20 fit players. We will use the whole squad because we can use five substitutes in the match.”
Tuchel has a huge task at hand, especially without the talismanic Mason Mount. The youngster is likely to be a huge miss given his industrious nature and ability to influence the game. Even Jorginho’s absence is likely to be felt given the control he brings.
