Chelsea striker Lucas Piazon closing in on Sporting Braga switch

According to Football.london, Chelsea attacking midfielder Lucas Piazon is nearing the end of his Stamford Bridge nightmare.

The 26-year-old joined the Blues in January 2012. The Brazilian was one of the most hyped players during that time but failed to live up to expectations since.

Piazon made just three appearances for the Blues at the senior level. The fact that he managed two assists in them shows that there was ability that failed to eventually shine.

Eight years and seven loan spells later, he is finally close to ending his association with Chelsea. The Brazilian has already agreed on personal terms with the Portuguese side Sporting Braga.

It would appear that an official announcement is now imminent. Piazon is now in the final six months of his contract at Stamford Bridge. With him having the option of an extra year, Chelsea can cash-in on him rather than losing him for free.

The 26-year-old himself had previously stated that the club wants to keep loaning him out so that they could ultimately sell him permanently. It appears to have now come to fruition.

Given the limited impact he has had at the club, Piazon’s exit was coming. In fact, the only surprise is that it took this long.

Unfortunately for him and us, Piazon will now go down in the history books as another youngster who failed to make use of his potential.

At 26, Piazon still has time to build himself a respectable career. Hopefully, fortune will favour him elsewhere.

He could be the first of a number of exits this January at the Bridge. Kepa Arrizabalaga, Fikayo Tomori, Jorginho and Marcos Alonso have been linked with moves away. It remains to be seen if they too will be on the move.
