Twitter reacts as Chelsea star Edouard Mendy continues impresses for Senegal
Edouard Mendy has been a revelation since joining Chelsea this summer.
The Senegalese international has quietly gone about solidifying his hold on the goalkeeping spot at Stamford Bridge.
What was previously seen as a weakness is now a strength. In fact, Mendy has conceded just twice in eight outings, making easy work of moving to a new country and league.
It is a testament to his quality that he helped keep five consecutive clean sheets in all competitions for the first time in ten years.
His performance against Manchester United at Old Trafford showed the difference that a dependable goalkeeper can make. It can be argued that he rescued a point and was unbeatable as the last line of defence.
Mendy has carried over the good form onto the international stage. Premier League stars took the headlines as Senegal became the first team to qualify for the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations.
While Sadio Mane was instrumental at one end, Mendy was equally impressive at the other end. Playing Guinea-Bissau, Mendy produced a point-blank save from a bullet header on the hour mark.
The scores were 0-0 at that point. Mendy’s save at that point helped Senegal and go on to win it.
In his last ten games, Mendy has conceded just two goals from 74 shots faced. Chelsea fans were certainly ecstatic and took to Twitter to express their joy.
We take a look at how they reacted.

Édouard Mendy with another goal-saving stop and a clean-sheet. I can’t continue counting this. It’s getting absurd.
