The Champions League semi-final was a tense affair, fought between Chelsea and Atletico Madrid. After the first leg, the game hanged perfectly in the balance. After a series of fine saves from Thibaut Courtois, Madrid went on to beat the Blues and progress to the final. A jubilant Courtois was at the centre of the media’s focus throughout the semi-final and he produced the goods in front of millions of disappointed Chelsea fans.
With the future of Petr Cech in doubt, for some reason, Chelsea’s need for a long-term goalkeeper is increasing by the day. They seemingly have a perfect replacement for Cech in the shape of Courtois. It now looks as though Madrid are seeing that now and have already brought in the Belgian’s replacement after they signed Miguel Angel Moya from Getafe. The Daily Mail have reported.
It looks as though the new La Liga champions are preparing for life without Courtois which leaves the star just one place to go, Chelsea. The Blues should be very thankful they have Courtois in their ranks as he is the perfect replacement for Cech as the two are very similar.
They both have a physical presence in the box, due to their height. But, they’re not slow getting down to any ball as they are both very athletic and actually use their height to their advantage in that respect. They can reach things that not many ‘keepers can and have earned the highest praise for it.
Courtois can become one of the best in the world and is definitely on the right path. If he can play regular football for Chelsea then he can unlock the potential we all know he has.
