Going into the Arsenal game there were few people who had the result to be over 2.5 goals. Chelsea’s tight backline and lack of a centre-forward meant that I had us [Blues] to sneak a 1-0 win, but we had obliterated within seven minutes. As we know, we went on to win the game 6-0, and though the Gunners were down to 10, we were thoroughly impressive. I thought that I would take a look at the stats via our friends Squawka.
Possession was close, with Chelsea shading it, and the hosts also came out on top in terms of passing. Chelsea completed 445 of his 509 passes (87%) while the north London side managed 85% of their 439.
Chelsea had more shots than Arsenal – 21 to 12 – and also more shots on target – 11 to 5.
Arsenal made more tackles during the game, 12 to Chelsea’s eight, and also more headers. Arsenal made 14 interceptions during the game while Chelsea made nine, but it was the Blues who made more clearances.
Arsenal made more fouls during the game, but also completed more take ons – 11 to 7.
It’s the score that matters most, though, and the 6-0 will have left Arsene Wenger’s tail between his legs, which is brilliant.
