After putting Arsenal back into their place yesterday with a 6-3 thrashing, here are four things we learned from the tie.
1) Chelsea now front runners
The thrashing ensured that the Blues remain top of the league despite Liverpool also winning. Chelsea are four points clear of the Reds in second with just seven league games to go.
Should Manchester City win their three games in hand then they would go top, but I would much rather have the points on the board.
2) Oscar can be a match winner
The Brazilian is a real favourite at Stamford Bridge and when he makes the difference it is well met by the fans. He was brilliant yesterday. The way he tore the Arsenal defence up was brilliant to watch and his two goals were well deserved.
He also completed 88% of his passes.
3) Officials are a mess
Needless to say there will be talk about the officials during the tie. After Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain handled in the box, to put it in simple terms, before the referee dismissed Kieran Gibbs. IT just goes to show that the officials are human no matter what level you are at.
4) Arsenal’s title chances slipping
After topping the table for so long the Gunners are now in fourth place and are looking like they have thrown their hopes away. They are now seven points behind Chelsea and with Arsene Wenger’s history with rushing players back from injury and their run of games, I am now counting them out of the title race.
Marvellous, isn’t it?
