After struggling to beat a resilient Sunderland side at the Stadium of Light in the week, Chelsea travelled to Stoke to try and close the gap between themselves and leaders Arsenal, but it didn’t go to plan for the west London side. A last gasp goal from Oussama Assaidi handed Jose Mourinho’s men a 3-2 defeat and saw them return to the capital with no points. Following the loss, here are three players who should be dropped, in my opinion.
1) John Terry
The skipper had a strong start to the season but has been woeful over the two games this week. The Blues have now conceded six goals in a matter of days to lesser opposition and Terry has been at the heart of that. Usually a domineering player in the air, Terry won just three of his 10 headed duels this afternoon.
2) Branislav Ivanovic
For me, Mourinho has to either drop the Serbia international or stick him in the middle of the defence. He has looked as though he needs a kick up the rear end for some time now, so perhaps a back four of Azpilicueta, Luiz, Cahill and Cole should be used next time out.
3) Fernando Torres
We are now 15 games into the Premier League season, and Fernando Torres has scored once. The Spaniard offered nothing up top at the Britannia and should be dropped from the side, in my eyes.
Chelsea fans, who would you drop?
