Chelsea have received a big blow as one of their striker’s reported loan move to Greece has collapsed. The club already has a good number of exiled players who are being abandoned from training with the first team and are seeking new career prospects for them.
The club has already released many of their star players like Raheem Sterling, who has joined Arsenal on a season-long loan spell.
It is likely to see how they deal with their unwanted players and find a good transfer solution for them. The new manager Enzo Maresca seemingly looks pretty clear with his project and player’s inclusion.
Chelsea attacker David Fofana’s reported season-long loan deal has been off as reported by Fabrizio Romano. It is worth noting that all the parties involved agreed to confirm the deal, with an option to buy clause for £20m not mandatory. It was up to AEK in June 2025 to decide about it. Notably, the Ivory Coast international bags £30,000-per-week at Stamford Bridge.
However, the negotiation failed as both the clubs had disagreements on several points. It is worth noting that The Pensioners are still looking for other options to release Fofana as both the club and the players’ camp are currently looking for other available options. The 21-year-old holds no place in Maresca’s plans.
The transfer scenarios of unwanted players are now becoming a big headache for Chelsea as they haven’t gotten rid of many undesired players. Stalwarts like Ben Chilwell are still in limbo.
These players are an unwanted burden for the club as they have already made more than ten signings in the recently concluded summer transfer window, spending more than €200 million from their money vault.
It is likely to be seen how Todd-Bohely and co. deals with these scenarios and more importantly how their new signings perform as they head to European football in the coming days.
