Things not ‘fine’ at Chelsea as Enzo Maresca plots the big picture

After a disappointing 2023-24 season under Mauricio Pochettino, Chelsea wasted no time in parting ways with the Argentine manager. The Todd Boehly-led consortium quickly placed their trust in Enzo Maresca to steer the ship back on course.

So far, the former Leicester City manager has shown promising signs, as he strives to restore the Blues to their former dominance in European football. Maresca made a bold statement in the summer transfer window, bringing in over ten new players and spending more than £200 million.

His aggressive approach to recruitment appears to be paying off. New signing Jadon Sancho has already contributed with two assists in his first two appearances, highlighting the immediate impact of the club’s investment.

Now sitting third in the Premier League standings, Chelsea fans will be eager to see if the team can maintain their momentum and hold onto their position as the season progresses.

Maresca acts meticulously after a 3-0 win against West Ham

Following Chelsea’s commanding 3-0 victory over West Ham, Enzo Maresca shared his thoughts on the road ahead for the club. While the Italian manager acknowledged that the team is on the right track, he emphasized the need to address certain areas of improvement. Speaking at the post-match press conference via Football.London, Maresca stated:

I think we are on the right path. We are in the right direction. This is a long journey. Because we are in a good moment, it looks like everything is fine but not everything is fine. We could attack better, we could defend better. The most important thing is how the players work together.

Notably, this victory marked Chelsea’s third consecutive away win of the season. Considering their current form, things are looking promising for the Blues as they continue to build momentum.

More importantly, Maresca’s role is pivotal in maintaining the consistency of the players, especially given the high number of talented individuals on Chelsea’s bench. Managing such a deep squad effectively is no small task, and it will be crucial for him to keep the team focused and cohesive.

The Blues are undoubtedly finding their rhythm, but sustaining this form with the same intensity is essential. Otherwise, they risk missing out on securing a spot among Europe’s elite clubs once again this year.

For now, Maresca continues to show off his ability and appears to know what he is doing at Stamford Bridge. Hopefully, this is just the start and we see more of his plans come into fruition in the games to come.
