Amid the ongoing drama of the 2024-25 summer transfer window, Chelsea pulled off a surprising last-minute signing by securing Jadon Sancho from Manchester United. Alongside this significant acquisition, the club has also managed to offload several unwanted players from their extensive squad, including Raheem Sterling’s loan move to Arsenal.
In addition, one of Chelsea’s young attackers has secured a season-long loan move to another Premier League club, with an option to make the transfer permanent next summer. The 22-year-old forward, whose current contract at Stamford Bridge runs until 2028, has already experienced three loan spells away from the Blues at Vitesse Arnhem, Southampton, and Fulham.
Armando Broja has left Chelsea to join Everton on a season-long loan. According to Fabrizio Romano via X, the deal includes a £30 million buy option clause, agreed upon by both clubs.
The Albanian international spent last season on loan at Fulham and was initially linked with a move to Ipswich Town, though that deal ultimately fell through. Broja was among the group of Chelsea players who received a clear message from manager Enzo Maresca that they were no longer part of the club’s plans and should seek opportunities elsewhere.
Broja’s arrival marks Everton’s sixth signing of this transfer window, as the Toffees look to bolster their squad, having yet to score in the ongoing Premier League season.
Regarding Todd Boehly-owned Chelsea’s recent transfer endeavours, their pursuit of African sensation Victor Osimhen from Napoli has hit a dead end, with the deal now completely off the table. Additionally, another target, Ivan Toney, who was on the club’s radar, has opted to join Saudi club Al-Ahli from Brentford.
Considering Chelsea’s current squad dynamics, Stamford Bridge already boasts a star-studded lineup of attackers, including Cole Palmer, Nicolas Jackson, and Marc Guiu, making Broja surplus to requirements, at least for now.
However, with the future always in flux, Chelsea might need Broja in one of their upcoming projects. This uncertainty is likely a key reason why the club chose to loan him out rather than sell him outright on a permanent deal.
