Chelsea have started their preparations for their weekend bow against West Ham United at their infamous Cobham on Monday; however, there was a surprise in their training sequence that would worry the Blues faithful.
The West Londoners grinded out a late win against Bournemouth last weekend, with Christopher Nkunku slotting the winner in the 86th minute. And Enzo Maresca would be looking to build on the win against the Cherries as he would look to make back-to-back wins for the first time this season.
The former Leicester City manager has been handed an injury boost as he welcomes Enzo Fernandez, Malo Gusto, Romeo Lavia, and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall back to training. However, club captain Reece James is still a notable absentee.
Following his debut donning the Blues badge at the weekend, Jadon Sancho was not training with the rest of his teammates outdoors at Cobham today.
Injury concern for Chelsea star Sancho?
Sancho enjoyed an incredible debut as he looked near his Dortmund self, setting up Nkunku’s goal.
As Chelsea fans would sweat over his injury, Mail Sport journalist Kieran Gill relays that it is nothing to worry about as he acknowledges that no injury concerns are involved while suggesting that the player played his first forty-five of the new campaign and he would be looking to build his fitness hereon.
The former Manchester United winger might be in line to make his first start donning the Blues badge against West Ham at the weekend owing to his heroics against Iraola’s side. However, his minutes would be managed carefully by the staff at Cobham as they nursed him into full fitness and sharpness.
We will see if the Man City Academy graduate is able to secure his spot in Enzo’s eleven. If the Bournemouth game is to go by and provided he puts up that consistency, the 24-year-old has the capability to become one of the first names on Chelsea’s team sheet.
