Former Leicester star reveals Enzo Maresca’s post international break strategy

While a majority of the footballers across Europe are currently on an international break to represent their respective nations, Enzo Maresca is cooking something exciting at Stamford Bridge.

The Chelsea manager is working with his 14 players who stayed at Cobham. Among them stand some notable names like Jadon Sancho who joined Chelsea for a season-long loan spell from Manchester United on the brink of the deadline day.

Maresca’s ex-mate opens up on his plans post-international break

Former Leicester City midfielder Marc Albrighton, who played under Maresca’s managership at Leicester last year, opened up Maresca’s capabilities. The 32-year-old gave a glimpse of what the 44-year-old tactician is capable of by utilizing such short gaps.

Albrighton gave a reminder of the 2023-24 season when Lecister came back with three back-to-back wins. He highly applauded the Italian’s courage to produce something out with what he planned out with some chunk of guys and try to deliver. Albrighton mentioned:

“Previously, international breaks were, ‘right, have a week off, lads, if you’re going away’, he [Maresca] was like, no, we’re trying this. We’re going to try this out and see. Sure enough, in the next game we are playing that system.”

While The Pensioners have shown a glimpse of something really good in their 6-2 victory against the Wolves, it is likely to see how they turn on things when they take on Bournemouth on 15 September in their upcoming Premier League fixture.

The Blues emerged as the highest spenders in the Summer transfer window this season, flowing off £219.5m to make more than ten signings.

Marking the positive aspects, their fresh squad which consists of a flurry of Young talents like Nicolas Jackson, Cole Palmer, and Christopher Nkunku have shown some good signs of form so far.

Despite the Blueco. failed to sign the Napoli sensation Victor Osimhen, they didn’t miss the chance to bring on the Atletico Madrid flop Joao Felix on a permanent deal, who has already spent the 2023/24 season with them on a season-long loan spell.

It remains a subject of utter thrill how the Blues turn out the things in their upcoming games.
