Türkiye remains the final big-name European destination for players and clubs looking to make moves in the market, and Chelsea are actively looking to trim their squad size and wage bill.
And fresh reports are emerging from the Eurasian country for one of Chelsea’s young stars.
Galatasaray pushing for Carney Chukwuemeka loan move
According to TEAMTalk, Süper Lig side Galatasaray are working towards securing a loan move for Chelsea midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka before the Turkish transfer window slams shut on September 18.
The 20-year-old, having arrived from Aston Villa for €18 million two summers ago, has found opportunities hard to come by in what has thus far been an injury-ridden stint at Stamford Bridge.
The England U20 international has missed a total of 42 games for club and country in the last two seasons, having made just 27 appearances for the Blues across all competitions.
Valued by Transfermarkt at €15 million, Chukwuemeka has in place a £100,000-per-week contract with Chelsea that is set to run until June 2028.
Get it done
The Chukwuemeka move simply has not worked out for Chelsea. This is naturally not the first case of a player bought under the Todd Boehly regime, and it won’t be the last.
Nevertheless, Chelsea need to cut their losses where they can, and even Chukwuemeka himself is in need of a different environment to revitalise its career while he still can with time on his side.
