Chelsea’s pursuit to offload their unwanted players have worked quite a bit, as the club have been able to off-burdon many of their high-wage unwanted players like Raheem Sterling (on a loan move to Arsenal) and Conor Gallagher ( on a permanent transfer to Atletico Madrid).
However, one of their veteran left-backs, who has been an integral part of The Pensioners’ project since August 2020, now doesn’t have a place in Enzo Maresca’s new squad and the Englishman is eager to find a new destination for himself.
Chelsea’s stalwart left-back Ben Chilwell is undergoing quite a few struggles as the stellar footballer is in a buzz to find a new destination for himself after receiving a clear message from his club manager Maresca that he does not fit in the new game plan of the side and the 27-year-old must seek a place for himself somewhere else.
Signed by Chelsea in 2020 from Leicester City for a fee of €50.20 million, the English star has made a total of 106 appearances for the Londoners, scoring nine goals and marking 12 assists.
According to a report by The Telegraph, Chelsea are open to offloading Ben Chilwell, with the Turkish Super Lig emerging as a potential destination since their transfer window remains open until September 18. However, the English club has yet to receive any bids for the out-of-favor star.
Chilwell, who was part of Chelsea’s starting XI that secured the 2020/2021 UEFA Champions League title by defeating Manchester City 1-0 at Estádio do Dragão in Porto, has been given a clear message by manager Enzo Maresca that he no longer has a place in the squad. The situation has deteriorated to the point where Chilwell has been banished from training with the first team.
It will be interesting to see how this transfer saga unfolds, as both Chelsea and Chilwell appear eager to part ways. The coming days will determine whether a suitable offer materializes and if the left-back’s future lies in Turkey or elsewhere.
