Chelsea had agreed to sell Armando Broja to Ipswich Town some days back but a deal for the forward broke down at the last hour. David Ornstein has reported that the Tractor Boys have restarted conversations with the Blues over a possible deal for the 22-year-old on Deadline Day and have already had two newer bids turned down.
Broja is expected to be unfit for match action until midway through October but nonetheless, the two clubs remain in talks to get his move over the line before transfer window slams shut in a few hours.
Ben Jacobs has provided an update, suggesting that an initial year on loan with Kieran McKenna’s side could be on the cards for the Albanian international with an obligation to make the swoop permanent next year for a fee of £30 million.
Chelsea have already sold Romelu Lukaku to Napoli. Broja’s exit would mean that another striker leaves Stamford Bridge although the player was never expected to be a part of Enzo Maresca’s plans and had been linked with departing west London for most of the transfer window.
Even a first year on loan at Ipswich Town would work in Chelsea’s favour as they would get rid of Broja for a pre-agreed transfer fee sooner rather than later whereas his new employer may even cover a 100% share of his wage this season.
The Blues host Crystal Palace on matchday three of the Premier League this weekend and it will be exciting to see if another striker has arrived at Stamford Bridge with the club likely to have let go of two number nines in the final days of the transfer window.
