Chelsea handed boost in Sancho race as Juventus back out
A very busy summer has not deterred Chelsea from being able to explore favourable deals on Deadline Day and it has emerged that they are now in the driving seat as far as Jadon Sancho’s signing from Manchester United goes.
Juventus have backed out of the race, according to Fabrizio Romano, as the Bianconeri deem Manchester United’s demands far too high for Sancho. Chelsea remain keen on him, with the player also ‘open to move’ as per the transfer insider.
The Blues are prepared to sign Sancho in a possible swap deal. Though no transfer fees or player names have been mentioned, Ben Chilwell and Raheem Sterling would be the obvious players to interest Man United from the Chelsea outcasts.
Chilwell would be a good signing considering United’s problems in the left-back position for the better part of the last year and a half, whereas Sterling would be an experienced and seasoned Premier League winger as a like-for-like replacement for Sancho.
Though the player remains open to the move and a possible swap deal could cheapen the price for the former Borussia Dortmund superstar, it is very debatable as to whether another winger should be on Enzo Maresca’s radar.
He has already acquired Joao Felix and Pedro Neto in recent weeks to add to an already stacked attacking department that is only missing a regular source of goals with Victor Osimhen possibly being the missing piece.
Instead of spending their time and money on bringing in Sancho, Chelsea would be better rewarded if that energy is channelled towards Osimhen, for whom a deal has already been agreed upon between Al Ahli and Napoli.

It will be interesting to see what comes of Sancho’s future, as is the case with Sterling and Chilwell, but the Blues signing another winger is not good business by any means.
