A View From The Bridge

New Chelsea signing wants to follow in the footsteps of Cole Palmer

Dewsbury-Hall inspired by Palmer’s success

Chelsea brought in highly-rated midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall through the gates at Stamford Bridge earlier this summer, and the new signing has admitted that it would be ideal for him to follow in the footsteps of fellow teammate Cole Palmer.

The Blues completed the signing of the Englishman from Leicester City earlier this month in a £30 million deal after having won the Championship last season with current Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca. He signed a five-year deal at the Bridge upon his arrival.

The 25-year-old is currently grinding in the grounds of America with his new teammates as Chelsea fortify their preparations ahead of the upcoming campaign. The fact that he knows Enzo well will take him and Chelsea a long way.

He missed the opening fixture against Wrexham owing to an injury, although he would be hoping to get some minutes under his belt against Celtic later today.

Dewsbury-Hall targets Premier League and international success

Can Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall prove Peter Crouch wrong?

Dewsbury-Hall enjoyed a highly impressive season in the English second tier last year. He netted 12 goals and provided 14 assists in the previous campaign, and Chelsea fans would be hoping he replicates a similar form wearing the Blues badge.

However, we need to also remember that the competition at the club is fierce in the middle of the park, with Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo more likely to start for the Blues.

However, if he does well to break in the current midfield, it could inspire his aspirations to play for the Three Lions, and the player admitted that he wants to earn a senior call-up in the next twelve months, citing former City star Palmer as an ideal example.

“I have always dreamt of playing for England, he told Mail Sport.

“I have my aims for Chelsea, of course, winning trophies and playing well, but hopefully side by side with that, if it can get me in contention, it would be a dream.

Cole Palmer is the perfect example. He is absolutely flying and went on to make a great impact at the Euros. To do something similar, to follow in those footsteps, would be ideal.”

Cole Palmer is a perfect example for anyone who wants to kickstart a career at Chelsea.
