New Chelsea signing jubilant despite warning from Premier League centurion

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall feels “amazing” despite warning shots from Peter Crouch

New Chelsea signing Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall recently opened up about how he was feeling in his new environment as he sat down for an interview.

Speaking to Chelsea’s in-house media team, the 25-year-old had this to say about his first days as a Blue:

“It’s been amazing so far. I have really enjoyed the first few weeks. I’ve absolutely loved every day coming in, excited to work with everyone. Everyone is at such a high level, and the lads have been so welcoming so I can’t thank them enough.

“I’ve really got on with them. It’s helped that I knew quite a lot of them before, but it’s just nice to meet them properly and talk to them.

“They’re all top, and the staff are fantastic, so I’ve been absolutely over the moon with the way it’s gone in these weeks.

“Having a history with the staff has certainly helped. They’re all really top guys but also fantastic coaches who keep things professional. That was nice to see them again after a long summer off.

“It was a nice feeling to get in, it was a complicated and stressful time over the summer but once you’re in the door you feel happy and excited to go. That’s the way I’m feeling now.”

Dewsbury-Hall’s fresh comments arrive on the back of a warning from former Premier League veteran Peter Crouch, who recently warned him of limited game time at Chelsea.

The Englishman joined Chelsea earlier this summer on the back of a £30m move along with Enzo Maresca, both of whom were crucial in bringing Leicester City back to the Premier League at the end of last season. He was a key player for his boss as he made 49 appearances across all competitions, scoring 12 goals and providing 15 assists.

Dewsbury-Hall has signed a six-year deal at Chelsea set to run until June 2030.

Dewsbury-Hall will be important for Chelsea

He may not be the most exciting signing on paper, but Dewsbury-Hall has all the ingredients to be one of Chelsea’s most important players in the coming season, at least under Maresca.

Last season, the midfielder was deployed all over the pitch, taking up deep-lying roles as well as the ones that saw him play up front. He has also worked under Maresca, which is key as the two start work in a new environment. He’s also one of those dressing-room personalities that will help bridge the connection between the manager and players and bring composure to the setup when the times start going hard.

Dewsbury-Hall is the kind of player that quietly keeps the squad together and allows the glittering stars to shine.
