Chelsea to offload Armando Broja in the summer
Albanian Football Association President Armand Duka has warned Chelsea against the decision to offload Albanian striker Armando Broja. Duka claims Broja will become “one of the best strikers in Europe” and expressed his delight regarding Broja’s potential link with AC Milan, per Metro.
Chelsea have become one of the busiest Premier League clubs this summer after completing five deals. The club is preparing for a new season under their new Italian manager Enzo Maresca and is also working on a number of outgoings. Chelsea have sold Ian Maatsen, Lewis Hall, Omari Hutchinson, and Hakim Ziyech so far this summer, and they are open to offers for Romelu Lukaku, Kepa Arrizabalaga, Conor Gallagher, and Trevoh Chalobah.
Chelsea also plan to offload the Albanian striker Broja this summer. Broja was expected to shine at the senior level following his success with the youth team, but the 22-year-old striker has only scored three goals and provided one assist in his 38 matches for the club across all competitions over the last two seasons. The striker has struggled to make a significant impact at the club due to injuries and poor form.
Broja was included in his national side for Euro 2024, but fate was not on his side. With just two appearances in the campaign, Broja failed to shine on the international stage, and Albania’s journey ended in the group stage.
Despite his recent struggles, Albanian football chief Duka has backed the young striker and warned Chelsea against selling Broja this summer.
“Armando is definitely one of the greatest talents in the entire history of Albanian football.
“I am a Milan fan and if Broja were to arrive at Milanello I would be doubly happy. It would undoubtedly be the best and strongest move that Milan could make in the summer market.
“The boy has incredible talent and I think he hasn’t shown his best yet. He needs to play at club level and I think Serie A and Milan represent an excellent opportunity for him to climb to the top of European football.
“He will be one of the best strikers in Europe. I am convinced that he is ready to try an experience in Italian football and if it happens I think it will be a success”.
Duka told Sportitalia, per Metro, that Broja has confirmed he has been linked with several clubs in Europe, including AC Milan. Broja needs a team like AC Milan, which can guarantee playing time for the young striker. This would help him regain his form and confidence and unlock his full potential.
Chelsea may not have second thoughts about Broja as he is not included in Maresca’s plans. The club has wide-ranging plans for the upcoming season under the Italian tactician, hoping to return to their prime form. The decision to offload Broja could free up valuable funds, which could be reinvested in other areas to bolster the squad.
