According to journalist Tom Collomose, Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca might sign more players from his former club, Leicester City and Collomose has confirmed that the Italian manager is a great admirer of Leicester goalkeeper Mads Hermansen. Maresca has already signed English midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall from Leicester in the summer.
The Italian manager has gained fame during his spell with English club Leicester City. He signed as the head coach of the club last summer and helped the club win the Championship. Leicester won 31 games out of 46 Championship games last season under Maresca. The tactician also helped several players to prove their ability in the club by giving them more playtime, and certain players have impressed Maresca during the campaign.
Leicester City custodian Hermansen was one of the favourites of the Italian gaffer. The young goalkeeper’s performance with his boyhood club impressed the gaffer, and Maresca signed him for the Foxes last summer. The 24-year-old had a stellar campaign under Maresca at King Power Stadium. He had 13 clean sheets in 44 games for the Fox in the Championship. He was incredible between the sticks and saved many goals for the club in the last season which led them to win the title.
The West London club have entered the transfer market again, but this time they are looking for a goalkeeper and Hermansen will be one of their primary targets for the role. The Danish international has a contract till 2028 with the Foxes and Chelsea hasn’t made any contact with the player so far, per Collomosse
With the signing of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, it is clear that he is ready to grab the players who have impressed him in Leicester, and we can also expect more players from Maresca’s former club. Chelsea have signed Robert Sanchez and Djordje Petrovic last summer but the duo had underwhelming seasons. So the club is set to aim for a new goalkeeper in the summer and Chelsea may go for Hermansen from Leicester.
Chelsea will face Manchester City in their first match of the new campaign at Stamford Bridge and Maresca wants to win the match against his ex-boss Pep Guardiola.
