Chelsea hopeful of completing Desire Doue transfer next week
With four new faces arriving at Chelsea ahead of their pre-season tour to the United States, it is fair to say that they are very much involved in the transfer market and are not done with business just yet.
According to The Sun, Todd Boehly is hoping to culminate his fifth transfer of the window next week itself by bringing in Desire Doue from Rennes by seeing off competition from fellow Premier League giants, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.
Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain are also keen on acquiring the Frenchman, but it looks like the Blues and the Lilywhites are far ahead of the pack having already commenced talks with Rennes as well as Doue’s entourage. Ex-Chelsea star Matic said this about Doue some time ago –” [But] it’s always interesting to see how they progress. Desire has great potential. There are a few others but I don’t want to say their names because I don’t think it’s good for them.”
He has been described as a ‘top priority’ for the London rivals and it is speculated that the competition from Tottenham is as heavy as it can be with Ange Postecoglou particularly insistent on Doue’s transfer to North London.
Chelsea, however, will fancy their chances of completing a switch for the 19-year-old as he will be a crucial part of their long-term sporting project and the west Londoners will also be in a better position to pay better money.
Doue’s signing will significantly boost the team’s midfield as he can play across all positions in the middle of the park. It is also absolutely unlikely that Chelsea will send him out on loan, as they usually do with a lot of young players.

There remains a lack of clarity regarding Rennes’ asking price for Doue but the Ligue 1 side will hope to earn as high as possible amid a number of sides interested in the Frenchman’s signatures this summer itself.
