Chelsea sign Aaron Anselmino, agree to Boca Juniors’ request to keep him on for another year

According to Argentine outlet TyC Sports, Chelsea have not only agreed a deal with Boca Juniors for the acquisition of their star teenage defender Aaron Anselmino, but they have also agreed to their request of having him on for another year.

The 18-year-old, having broken into Boca’s senior setup not too long ago, had already become a closely followed prospect and was attracting interest from Man United as well, who were reportedly set to make a bid for him this summer.

As requested, and granted, Boca are set to have Anselmino on board until the start of the 2025/26 European season, though Chelsea retain the option of calling him at the start of 2025 should they choose to, having sealed what is one of the biggest sales in Boca’s history.

Anselmino’s now-former contract at Boca Juniors, as per Capology, was set to run until December 2028.

Well played, Chelsea

Chelsea under the Todd Boehly-led consortium may not be very patient, but they definitely have an eye for talent.

Here again, on the back of some shrewd acquisitions they have been making both in the players’ and officials’ departments, Chelsea have on their hands a talented defender who, hopefully by the time he arrives at Stamford Bridge, may find himself in a more stable environment capable of nurturing him and taking him to great heights.

Anselmino for Boca: 10 games, 1 goal in 597 minutes of senior pro football.

This is a solid signing by Chelsea to secure their future. Do not be surprised if many more such signings follow this summer.
