Chelsea need to get rid of Michael Golding to complete Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall’s signing from Leicester City
Chelsea are closing in on Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall’s signing from Leicester City after his terrific campaign in the EFL Championship, having been one of the Foxes’ most crucial players in their successful promotion back to the Premier League.
The 25-year-old scored 12 goals and provided 14 assists in the Championship for Enzo Maresca’s men, and is now on the verge of reuniting with the Italian manager after enjoying a very productive campaign under him at the King Power Stadium last time around.
The Blues will add one of England’s finest young midfielders to their roster with Dewsbury-Hall’s acquisition but it will not come without the pinch of losing hot prospect Michael Golding to Leicester, according to a report by Express, citing Fabrizio Romano.
The teenager was seen as one of Chelsea’s brightest academy produces in recent years and even made his first-team debut last season under Mauricio Pochettino, aged just 17, garnering praise from Ben Chilwell and Reece James in the process.
However, Chelsea have been under noticeable financial pressure in recent months and Golding’s sale was an obligation considering the amount of money they have spent in the transfer market since Todd Boehly bought the club.
Dewsbury-Hall’s transfer to Chelsea will cost £30 million, as per Express, though it is still unknown how much Golding’s valuation will be as part of the Leicester star’s deal which brings him to Stamford Bridge.
His signing from the 2016 Premier League champions will also affect Conor Gallagher’s Chelsea future, with the West Londoners insistent on selling him to raise funds to balance their accounts.
