Chelsea are keen on signing German youth international Youssoufa Moukoko from Borussia Dortmund. The player’s agent revealed that he is set to move from the German club in the summer. Multiple clubs across Europe are vying for his signature.
Moukoko is a young German striker who has impressed in the Bundesliga with Dortmund in the past years. The Dortmund academy graduate made his senior debut at the age of sixteen and he has thrived in the league with his limited playing time. He has scored 18 goals and 8 assists in 99 games for the German side. Man City striker Erling Haaland called the teenager ‘the biggest talent in the world’.
The 19-year-old has attracted European clubs with his performance in the last season with the German club. He has scored six goals in 27 games across all competitions. The striker’s ability to read the game and anticipate opportunities has helped him score goals, and his pace and agility have helped to destroy the opponent’s defence tactics.
The Germany under-21 international signed a contract extension last January, which expires in the summer of 2026. His agent Patrick Williams, has confirmed that the player is eagerly waiting for a move from the club, despite a lack of playing time. He also revealed that the player has linked with multiple clubs across Europe.
“Youssoufa has a huge potential, which, unfortunately, he couldn‘t show last season, I think the fact that he scored five goals in 613 minutes says everything about his quality. Few players in the Bundesliga have such a rate. It’s not a secret that there are enough clubs out here who believe in Youssoufa’s qualities and want him in their team. I say BVB is making a mistake in giving Youssoufa away. With so little playing time, everyone will know that Youssoufa’s market value will be low, and Dortmund can’t expect much. We wanted it to be different, but that’s the football business. Youssoufa is totally clear in his mind, extremely focused and knows what he wants to drive his career forward. Now we are sounding out interest from England, Spain and France”
Williams said, (h/t Football London). Chelsea are one among the clubs who are vying for his signature and West London may face a tough competition to sign the teenager from Dortmund.
Chelsea has completed seven signings so far and have created waves in the transfer market. Among the seven, five of them are young players including Marc Guiu, Omari Kellyman, Caleb Wiley, Renato Veiga and Estevao Willian, who will be joining the club next summer. So the West London club has also invested in the young players by foreseeing the future plans.
The young players are thriving in European football and most of the clubs are signing them to their squads. Chelsea are currently eyeing their fifth teenager of the summer and that is Moukoko from Dortmund. The German striker has already proved his ability to score goals in the Bundesliga, so his experience in the German top-flight league can help Chelsea in the upcoming season.
The West London club has currently signed Marc Guiu for the striker position from Barcelona, but the inexperienced Spanish striker may loaned out in the summer to gain first-team experience. Chelsea’s new manager Maresca needs a goal-getter who can score more than 20 goals in a season and the young German striker can help the Italian gaffer by scoring goals. Maresca can use him in the false nine position for the upcoming season and he can also be featured in the striker position, once he gains experience in the league.
Chelsea will face a tough competition to sign the youngster from the German club and the West London club is likely to also be targeting experienced strikers in the summer transfer market.
