Chelsea eye Champions League finalist’s signing as priority this summer

Karim Adeyemi becomes Chelsea’s priority for the summer

Chelsea have already made four new acquisitions in the transfer window in the shapes of Tosin Adarabioyo, Omari Kellyman, Marc Guiu and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, after Enzo Maresca’s appointment to succeed Mauricio Pochettino as their manager.

The Italian has been given absolute backing in the transfer window and Chelsea’s business is unlikely to end any time soon following the emergence of Borussia Dortmund forward Karim Adeyemi on their radar, as per Give Me Sport.

The report adds that the Blues have been the 22-year-old a ‘priority target’ for the summer after he has enjoyed a couple of fantastic seasons at the Signal Iduna Park, the latest of which saw him reach the Champions League final and finish as a silver medallist in Europe’s heavyweight competition.

The Blues have been keen on bringing in a pacey option on their left flank who can also contribute in front of goal and Adeyemi’s name perfectly fits the bill. At 22, he also fits Chelsea’s sporting strategy very nicely.

There is serious interest from Chelsea in Adeyemi and it is expected that his transfer to gain traction soon, although it remains to be seen how much the west Londoners will need to cough up to complete his signing from Borussia Dortmund.

Adeyemi has a contract valid until June 2027 with BVB, thereby implying that the Bundesliga giants will be able to dictate terms if and when Chelsea come knocking with their opening offer. Transfermarkt values him at a measly €28 million, though it would not be a surprise at all if the winger is slapped with a price tag that is three or four times higher than the above figure.

Either way, he would be a terrific recruit for Chelsea if indeed they can sign him. Adeyemi, naturally a left winger, is capable of playing across all positions in attack and that would be especially beneficial to Enzo Maresca.
