Chelsea confirm Filip Jörgensen signing
Chelsea have confirmed the signing of Filip Jörgensen, marking their eighth acquisition of the ongoing transfer window.
The 22-year-old joins the Blues from LaLiga side Villarreal on the back of a £21m move.
The Demark U21 international and former Sweden U16 and U17 international has signed a seven-year contract at Stamford Bridge.
While new coach Enzo Maresca as stated his desire to have Sánchez as his first-choice keeper, the Spaniard’s future remains up in the air as well, especially with Jörgensen roped in.
Chelsea have failed to win either of their first two pre-season games. They have four more friendlies remaining (against Club América, Man City, Real Madrid, and Inter Milan) before kicking off their Premier League campaign against Man City at home on August 18.
More goalies, more problems
Chelsea moving from one goalkeeper to the next over the past two seasons is, in the microcosm, an illustration of the trigger-happy nature of the new regime which amuses the neutrals and fills the club’s fanbase with no confidence whatsoever.
Sánchez has had a worrying case of underwhelming performances going as far back as his final season at Brighton. If he doesn’t perform well under Maresca, that will be two strikes for him at Chelsea adding to the Brighton one; not many get to remain on the top level after that.

Jörgensen’s arrival only adds more confusion and uncertainty to the mix. It’s great fun for the neutrals, but if you’re a Blues fan, you would want this misery to end.
