Chelsea close to signing 21-year-old Ligue 1 star, loan move to Strasbourg imminent

Chelsea set to sign Guela Doue from Rennes, immediate loan to Strasbourg

According to Sky Sports journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Chelsea are set to sign Ivory Coast international Guela Doue from Rennes. Chelsea have already targeted Guela’s younger brother, Désiré Doue, in the summer. Chelsea are set to loan out the player after completing the signing.

Guela is a young Ivory Coast international who impressed in Ligue 1 with his boyhood club Rennes last season. He contributed three assists in 33 games for the club and helped them finish tenth in the league table. He has thrived in the French club along with his younger brother Désiré and impressed the fans with their dazzling performances.

The 21-year-old is primarily a right-back, but he has also proven his ability as a centre-back for Rennes in Ligue 1. His ability to read the game and his aerial dominance have helped the club prevent conceding goals, and his pace has been used to attack opponents through the flanks.

The young full-back’s contract will end next summer, and according to Gianluca Di Marzio, the French club will receive €7m plus €2m in add-ons for his services from the West London club. Chelsea are also keen on signing his brother Désiré in the summer, but the winger is currently linked with European giants Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain.

Chelsea have currently completed seven signings in the summer and they have also spent a hefty amount on these additions. Currently, Chelsea need to make some sales before their next signings and the West London club is looking forward to loaning out some players to balance the books.

Chelsea have now reached an agreement with Rennes for their full-back Guela, and the West London club will directly loan out the player to Ligue 1 club RC Strasbourg, according to the aforementioned source. The deal will also help the club financially by maintaining the PSR rules.

The young player is a future asset for the club and the current loan deal will help him gain first-team experience and improve his skillsets, which can be used by the West London club in the future. The player can also join Chelsea next season if he impresses with his loan stint in France. The West London club will also try to persuade Désiré to sign for Chelsea along with his brother Guela.
