Newcastle United and Chelsea looking to sign Crysencio Summerville this summer
GiveMeSport’s Senior Football Correspondent Ben Jacobs has reported that both Newcastle United and Chelsea are willing to place bids for Leeds United winger Crysencio Summerville this summer.
“There is interest in him (Summerville). We know Brighton have taken a look. We know that he could still be on Chelsea’s radar. Newcastle are also interested in the player. So it will still be a big surprise if between now and the end of the window, given how many clubs want players in his position, it will be a surprise if somebody doesn’t make a formal offer for Summerville.
“Then ultimately, Leeds will speak to the player, and they’ll have a big decision to make. But if there are exits at Leeds, it will be because it suits all parties, rather than because Leeds are scrambling, financially speaking, or are forced to sell.”
Having failed to make the Premier League last season despite looking comfortable for most of last season in the Championship, Leeds are in a precarious situation at the moment and need to generate a three-figure sum in player sales.
Despite failing to get promoted, Leeds have a fair few players that on the radar of Premier League clubs, and Summerville has been targeted by the big names for quite a while.
The Netherlands U21 international was red-hot in the Championship last season, producing 21 goals and 10 assists for Leeds from out wide in 49 appearances across all competitions.
The 22-year-old has just completed his fourth season at Elland Road and has a £15k-a-week deal at the club that runs until June 2026.
Why, oh why, Chelsea?
It should not have to be repeated this much, but of Chelsea’s many problems, not having enough players on the roster is not one of them.
In the past two years, the Blues have demonstrated almost to perfection that buying every shiny asset on the market does not translate to success on the pitch.
Patience is a crucial virtue Chelsea need under their new regime. Time needs to be given both to the players they already have at Stamford Bridge and their new manager Enzo Maresca.

Simply put, Chelsea ought to walk away from a deal for Summerville. Newcastle need a winger, and Leeds need to generate sales. This equation does not require the Blues.
