AC Milan revive their interest in Chelsea striker Armando Broja

AC Milan are set to revive their deal to sign Albanian striker Armando Broja from Chelsea. The Italian giants have previously expressed their interest in the player, but they have not made any bids. Along with the Serie A club, Premier League rivals Everton are also keeping tabs on the player.

Broja started his football career with the West London club in 2009. The Albanian youngster made his senior appearances for the club in 2020. The 22-year-old striker thrived in the Premier League during his loan stint with Southampton, and he was considered one of the best young strikers in the league with his performances for the Saints. He scored nine goals in 32 games across all competitions for Southampton.

He struggled on his return to his boyhood club due to injury and lost his chance of being the first-choice striker for the Blues. Argentine gaffer Mauricio Pochettino had immense trust in the young striker and provided more playtime for him in the first part of the last campaign. However, the Albanian international failed to impress Pochettino and scored only one goal in his 13 Premier League appearances for the Blues last season.

He was also loaned out to Premier League rivals Fulham in the second part of the season, but he failed to make an impact with his performances. The future of the young striker is uncertain at the West London club, and he has a contract until 2028 with the Blues. According to Calciomercato, AC Milan are set to revive their interest in the Chelsea striker.

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has included the Albanian international in his pre-season squad, which gives a slight hope for the 22-year-old striker. The West London club haven’t included the major outcasts in their pre-season squad and Broja has also completed his training with the Italian gaffer at Cobham. Premier League rivals Everton have a strong interest in signing the young striker this summer.

The Italian giants have already signed Euro-winning Spanish striker Alvaro Morata and are currently searching for another striker, leading them to revive their interest in Broja. The Albanian would get more playing time at the Italian club and could develop his game and playing style in Serie A. The Italian side can also offer him the chance to play in the Champions League in the upcoming season.
