Fabrizio Romano provides a new update on Michael Olise and says Crystal Palace will attempt to wave off interest from Chelsea as they have presented a new contract for Olise with a bigger salary. A similar thing happened last season when the Blues came close to signing the 21-year-old.
The Blues are now once again pushing to sign Olise this summer and are optimistic that they will be able to strike a deal with Palace after failing to sign the forward last summer.
Olise completed last season on high despite being sidelined for the majority of the campaign with injuries. The Frenchman produced 10 goals and six assists in 19 Premier League matches. Olise’s exploits during the season we witnessed his talent and ability to close up the campaign with respectable numbers.
He has been an emerging talent, and it was evident in his last campaign how the forward has thrived under new manager Oliver Glasner. If the Blues manage to sign him, he will be going straight into the starting lineup.
But Chelsea are set to face another gruelling task to complete his signing, as Palace will certainly do everything in their power to keep the forward by enticing him with a bigger salary. However, it also depends on the forward; if he is keen on staying or pursuing his career somewhere where he will be guaranteed to win trophies.
This Crystal Palace tactic of offering Olise a new contract every summer is really funny. Are they not tired already? It worked once, but the possibility of it working is miniscule. Even Olise will consider his decision this time, and when bigger Premier League clubs come calling, then you will have a chance to win trophies with them.
The West Londoners are going to push for Olise’s signing, and if he is inclined to a move, he can help Chelsea by applying pressure on Palace to part with him. As a result, Palace will test the Blues’ patience during the transfer window. It will be another long summer of Chelsea efforts to sign Olise because it may go on until the very end.
