A View From The Bridge

Paul Robinson says Arsenal star should join Chelsea ahead of other Premier League giants

Paul Robinson feels Arsenal star Aaron Ramsdale should prefer a move to Chelsea

Former football player Paul Robinson believes Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale should consider a move to Chelsea in the summer transfer window. Ramsdale, who has been pushed down to second place at Arsenal following the loan signing of David Raya, could find an opportunity for regular first-team football at Stamford Bridge.

Robinson suggests that Ramsdale, at 26 years old, would likely be given the No. 1 spot at Chelsea, as their current options Roberto Sanchez and Dorde Petrovic have not been convincing between the sticks. With Ramsdale’s future at Arsenal uncertain, especially if he is not guaranteed the starting role, a move to Chelsea could be enticing.

Under the management of Enzo Maresca, Chelsea are reportedly in the market for a goalkeeper. If Ramsdale becomes available for transfer from Arsenal, Chelsea may consider making a move to secure the services of the England international.

However, the former Tottenham Hotspurs goalkeeper feels Ramsdale should join Chelsea ahead of other Premier League clubs. Speaking to Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, he said:

“I don’t think Aaron Ramsdale will move abroad; I think there’s a move for him in the Premier League. The one that stands out is Chelsea. Petrovic and Sanchez don’t seem to be at the level you want. That’s where Chelsea are at.’’

Ramsdale could represent a viable solution for Chelsea’s goalkeeping concerns, given his perceived quality and potential fit within the team’s ambitions. The 26-year-old also has a point to prove and should have the motivation to impress in Blue.

Chelsea emerges as a wise option for Ramsdale, particularly because the club is actively seeking a goalkeeper under new manager Maresca. Ramsdale’s Premier League experience makes him a valuable asset, and his potential availability could align perfectly with Chelsea’s needs.

But first, the Blues need to make room because they already have Petrovic and Sanchez, and now that Kepa Arrizabalaga is returning from his loan, the position will be even more crowded with three goalkeepers. Since the Gunners would undoubtedly seek a high price for the 26-year-old, we first look to sell some and raise money before looking for any custodian.
