A View From The Bridge

Noni Madueke backs £20m Chelsea teammate to prove his worth next season: “He’s a problem for teams”

Noni Madueke acknowledges the potential of his teammate at Chelsea

Chelsea star forward Noni Madueke backs his teammate Carney Chukwuemeka to be a serious problem for the opposition teams in the upcoming Premier League season and to prove his real worth.

Madueke had an unsettled first full season at Stamford Bridge after joining from PSV Eindhoven in January 2023. But the 22-year-old had a considerably better season finale, scoring three goals and providing two assists in his final nine games.

Since joining Chelsea from Aston Villa for a fee of £20 million, Chukwuemeka has failed to prove his real potential. The 20-year-old Englishman had a terrible season due to injuries, playing in just 12 games in all competitions for the Blues.

Despite Chukwuemeka’s performances, Madueke has backed his teammate to outshine in the next season as he realises the 20-year-old’s true potential, which is yet to come. Madueke said:

“Carney is the player I spend most time with, easily. I knew him through the England set-up. We are just very similar, we get on really well. We like the same things and have the same type of personality, so it just clicks.”

“When he’s fully fit, he’s a problem for teams. So I can’t wait until next season for him to be fit from the start of the season and just show everyone what he can do.”

Next season at Stamford Bridge is going to be full of surprises. With new boss, Enzo Maresca, taking over the Blues, it will be interesting to see how he is going to manage Chukwuemeka in his plans for the next season.

Chukwuemeka has the potential in him which Madueke realises

The English international had his recent season full of multiple injuries, which saw him miss out on the Blues’ squad for a total of 38 games. But coming in the next season, fully fit, he might be able to make a difference.

He undoubtedly has the potential that Chelsea also saw in him before signing him, which, unfortunately, he hasn’t yet displayed during his tenure at the club. It will be intriguing to see how he handles the expectations everyone has of him in the upcoming season.
