Mauricio Pochettino posted memories of his season-long managership at Chelsea on Instagram. The 52-year-old talked about his remarkable time leading the Blues to a sixth-place result during his tenure as head coach.
However, the Chelsea board decided to release the Argentine manager on mutual consent, despite what appeared to be that he would continue for another season after managing to convince him he could be the ideal head coach for another season.
It came as a surprise when the Blues hierarchy opted to part ways with him, and ever since, so much has happened, as the club has already appointed his replacement, Leicester City manager Enzo Maresca, on a five-year contract with an option to extend.
However, Pochettino will return to Stamford Bridge for the Soccer Aid match as their head coach, as they will take England on Sunday, June 9. (h/t Mirror), Pochettino confirmed it in his Instagram post, which read:
‘’It is great that we have the chance to return to Stamford Bridge so soon with Soccer Aid this weekend, and I hope that we get to see some of you there too.”
Pochettino will once again return to Stamford Bridge with a heavy heart, as he will be on the touchline constructing his side’s Soccer Aid team when they play England. It could be an emotional game for him, although he was here just for a season. Certainly, there were plenty of moments where he showed he was the ideal man to continue at Chelsea.
Hopefully, after the game, he gets a good farewell because he did what he could with such a disorganised team and didn’t disappoint us when the season came to an end. All the Blues fans will be looking forward to welcoming Pochettino and Eden Hazard to Stamford Bridge. Like him or loathe him, he has handled himself with professionalism and remains on good terms with the club.
