Journo says transfer-listed Blues defender is not guaranteed to leave
Trevor Chalobah has been having a poor time at Chelsea lately. The 24-year-old missed 33 games due to multiple injuries last season. His inability to stay fit for an entire season has prompted the Blues to transfer list him. However, despite his shaky period at Stamford Bridge, a journo has claimed that Trevor Chalobah is not expected to leave the club this summer.
Chalobah made 17 appearances for the Blues last season. During his young career, the 24-year-old has often been compared to Cafu and if he gets time to settle in and strut his stuff he might prove the comparisons true. Here’s what Bobby Vincent had to say about Chalobah’s future at Chelsea for the time being. (h/t Football London)
“He is not guaranteed to leave, no. The club are open to offers for him but will hold out for what they believe is the right price.”
While Vincent said that Chalobah is not guaranteed to leave he also added that the 24-year-old wouldn’t shy away from leaving if Chelsea openly shop him this summer. So, the ball really is in the Blues’ court, if they actively try and get rid of Chalob this summer, the team shouldn’t face too many problems getting rid of him. If the 24-year-old can stay fit he can easily grow into a star.
If things go right, we could see Chalobah playing a bigger part on the team during the pre-season. Hopefully, he does well in pre-season, that would make it extremely likely that Chelsea end up giving a better chance to the 24-year-old next season.
