Chelsea target Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has left his future options open until Euro 2024 ends, as many clubs are interested in signing the highly talented star. The 22-year-old inspired his national team to the Round of 16 where Georgia beat Portugal 2-0.
However, Kvaratskhelia burst onto the scene when Napoli won the Serie A title, as he played a key role in steering the Italian team to the Scudetto. Since then, the Georgian has been sought by many clubs. The Blues have been keeping tabs on him, while Liverpool have also expressed their desire to sign him.
However, currently, the youngster is enhancing his status in Europe further, and his goal against Portugal certainly has raised his stock in the market. Many clubs would be watching the forward and could be plotting a move for him in the summer window.
However, the Napoli star has commented on his future and says he is not thinking about that currently. His present priority is to lead Georgia further into the tournament and will talk about his future when the competition ends. Speaking to the media, (h/t Evening Standard) he said:
“I respect [new Napoli boss Antonio] Conte; he’s one of the best managers,” he said. I respect Napoli, and I love Napoli. I will decide my future after the Euros. Now I’m focused on the game vs. Spain.”
Chelsea need a strong player to reinforce their right-wing because their last few signings have not lived up to expectations. Mykhaylo Mudryk and Raheem Sterling have not been difference-makers consistently, and this has created doubt on whether the Blues should look to sign a player for left-wing. Kvaratskhelia is a big difference-maker in the game, and he will be a big addition who can bring more attacking intent.
But the key issue will be that the Blues will have to free up some space to fit the Georgian forward into the first team. Moreover, Napoli manager Antonio Conte recently made ‘veto’ claims and said he would not let the Georgian leave. Thus, this could be an open-and-shut case for the Blues to pursue. Let’s wait and see how it goes.
