Thiago Silva shares former Chelsea teammate Trevoh Chalobah’s post on Instagram story
Trevoh Chalobah shared a photo on Instagram donning former Chelsea centre-back Thiago Silva’s Brazil shirt. He shared the defender’s post on his Instagram story with the caption, ‘’love you, bro.’’ Silva, who played for Selecao from 2008 to 2022 and made 113 appearances for the national team, left the Blues after the end of the season.
Since his exit, the 39-year-old has returned to his childhood club, Fluminense. The former Paris Saint-Germain player joined the Blues in 2019 and went on to become one of the established players, winning the Champions League.
Silva had a decorated career, with the national team winning the Copa America in 2019 and the FIFA Confederations Cup in 2013. He has been Brazil’s stalwart and also led them to the Copa America 2021 final, where they lost to Argentina 1-0.
Meanwhile, Chalobah, who has played alongside the Brazilian, shares a great relationship with Silva, who has helped the Cobham graduate become an experienced centre-back at the club. However, the future of Chalobah currently remains uncertain, but the 24-year-old had an excellent second half of the season last term.
If the Blues decide to keep Chalobah, he will be an important player for the Blues under Enzo Maresca. When he is fit, he is the most reliable defender who can bring stability to the back, and maybe he could be counted on to fill in Silva’s shoes next season.
Even at 39 years old, Silva gave off the idea that he was still at the top of his game, which is uncommon for a player because most players retire or move out of Europe to play in other leagues.
