The transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, has revealed the most recent transfer news on Chelsea target Benjamin Sesko who claims to be better than Haaland. The RB Leipzig striker will not be moving to the Premier League this summer.
This is a blow for Chelsea and all interested teams, as the young talent has extended his contract with RB Leipzig and will stay in the Bundesliga.
The Blues have been linked with a variety of striker targets recently, including players like Victor Osimhen, who has been linked several times to the London club without appearing to be close to a deal. Yet, Benjamin Sesko was one target that seemed particularly gaining traction.
The RB Leipzig striker, who is 6 feet 4 inches tall, is a massive physical presence on the pitch, but he also has technical skill and great pace.
This has led to comparisons with Manchester City superstar Erling Haaland, with even his Leipzig colleagues drawing parallels.
Sesko joined Salzburg after Haaland left, and he discussed the contrast while at the club. saying, “Such comparisons motivate me and give me energy. They do not represent pressure. I will listen and learn so I can be even better than he is. My teammates at the club tell me that Haaland and I are very similar, especially in terms of speed. Most of them even tell me that I’m better than him!”
Sesko’s estimated transfer value (ETV) is €34.5m, which shot sharply from a season in which he scored 14 goals in 31 Bundesliga matches. The player has a contract until 2028 with Leipzig
With Haaland arguably being the difference between the Gunners and a Premier League victory in the previous two years, clubs are looking for the next best thing.
However, Chelsea’s hopes to sign the RB Leipzig striker have now been crushed, but Euro 2024 is an excellent opportunity to watch more of Sesko on the international stage.
