Chelsea contact TSG Hoffenheim for striker Maximilian Beier
According to Football. London, Cheslea are set to try their luck to sign TSG Hoffenheim striker Maximilian Beier. It is understood that the Blues have made a request to the Bundesliga club for the striker who has a €32.5m release clause in his contract.
The 21-year-old scored 16 goals in 33 Bundesliga games last season—which was his breakthrough campaign. The forward appears to have made an immediate impression. Beier has the potential to mature into an impeccable striker.
His performance saw him receive a call-up to the national team of Germany for Euro 2024. Meanwhile, the Blues are keen on acquiring a striker and have made their interest known to the German club.
He also has an affordable price tag and before Hoffenheim increase the price, Chelsea might have to move quickly to sign him. The West Londoners have been in the market for a striker but so far there hasn’t been any concrete moves.
Nicolas Jackson appeared to be a poor signing for Chelsea last season as he encountered difficulties in establishing himself and scoring goals. However, as the season progressed, Jackson showed signs of promise as a dependable striker. Despite this, Jackson is still undeveloped and lacks goalscoring ability.
Thus, the Blues will need another option for the No.9 role who can bring healthy competition to Jackson for the starting lineup. Beier is just 21 but in the German league, he has demonstrated that he is a capable striker, and if Chelsea manage to sign him, there are many things they need to look at.

Firstly of all, he is still extremely young and will need a lot of exposure to get accustomed to the league. However, if he is not completely developed, he can be a backup striker to Jackson, which will provide him the ideal scenario to ease into a foreign league.
