Chelsea now looking at fresh target to bolster frontline as they eye £70m Belgian playing in Euro 2024

According to TEAMtalk, Chelsea expressed interest in RB Leipzig’s Lois Openda months ago. The Belgian youngster playing in Euro 2024 has met a number of their requirements as they have been scouting him in their quest to bolster the frontline.

The Blues are looking to sign a top attacker who can help them return to the top four in the English Premier League.

Chelsea are interested in signing RB Leipzig’s 24-year-old Belgium striker, Lois Openda.

They have spoken with several talented players and even had the possibility of signing Jhon Duran; nevertheless, they are interested in another youngster who has impressed club recruiters.

His versatility to play anywhere across the front three and drop into gaps is a significant plus and a vital component of what Chelsea are seeking under new boss Maresca.

He wants a forward who can fit into his system and be part of an attacking group, rather than relying on a single number nine. The Belgian caught the eye when he came off the bench on Monday, setting up Romelu Lukaku for what appeared to be a well-worked equaliser, only to have the goal disallowed for a violent handball in the build-up.

We can understand that Chelsea want to focus on the system rather than individuals which bodes well going forward for the club.

A sizable payment this summer might persuade the Bundesliga side to cash in, especially if the player goes on to play a more prominent role in the Euros—as his appearance on Monday indicated. The better his performances are in the Championship, the higher his praise would go up from a RB Leipzig perspective.

When comparing Openda to some of Chelsea’s other striker targets, he appears to be an excellent choice, and we can’t wait to see the 24-year-old striker in action at Stamford Bridge should the club choose to sign him.
