Report: Chelsea will consider selling Newcastle target with 6 years remaining on his contract if they land Michael Olise

Chelsea might offload Newcastle target Noni Madueke, who has 6 years left on his contract

As Newcastle United search the transfer market to sign a new winger, they now have their eyes set on Chelsea star Noni Madueke, whom the Blues might consider selling if they successfully land Michael Olise. Despite not always being a regular starter under Mauricio Pochettino, Madueke really caught the eye as the season went on. The 22-year-old only managed to pitch in with eight goals during his 34 appearances in all competitions.

Chelsea signed a new manager this season, Enzo Maresca and there isn’t a concrete answer as to whether the former Pep Guardiola assistant fancies the highly talented English winger. Should Chelsea successfully secure Michael Olise this summer, Madueke could become a sellable asset.

Chelsea signed Madueke in January 2023 from PSV Eindhoven and the 22-year-old still has six years remaining on his contract with the Blues, which will expire in 2030. This is due to Todd Boehly’s usual transfer tactic, in which he signs youngsters, giving them huge wages and long-term contracts.

Chelsea’s challenges for Olise

Chelsea faces competition from Manchester City, Manchester United, and Liverpool in signing Olise. The 22-year-old has a release clause worth £60 million and Crystal Palace is only willing to accept the offers from clubs paying the amount in its entirety.

Since joining Crystal Palace from Reading in the summer of 2021, Olise has established himself as one of the most key players in the club. The star forward has scored 10 goals and provided six assists during his 19 appearances in the last season of the Premier League.

Olise might potentially be the face of Maresca’s debut campaign

Chelsea are in desperate need of a quality attacker in the squad who can effectively convert the chances into goals, which they struggled to do last season. Olise could be that differential player to spearhead Chelsea into a new era under Maresca.

More Chelsea news

Until a decision is made on Olise, one way or the other, Chelsea really cannot come to a conclusion on Noni Madueke’s future. Either way, it would be ill-advised on their part if the Blues decide to sell someone as talented as Noni. Let’s wait and see how they decide to handle the situation.
