A View From The Bridge

Chelsea now want to sign incredible Manchester City player; lack of minutes could be a factor

Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain want to sign Manchester City star Julian Alvarez

According to journalist Uriel Lugt, Chelsea are among the candidates interested in signing Manchester City striker Julian Alvarez. Alvarez has been City’s best signing, and since joining the club, he has been a productive striker, scoring 36 goals in 105 appearances for City in two seasons.

However, Argentine game time has been the biggest issue, with Pep Guardiola always preferring Erling Haaland over the former River Plate centre-forward. This has now created a problem for the forward, who wants more playing time and could opt to leave.

Chelsea are looking to sign a striker, and if the 24-year-old is available on the market, then they should do everything in their power to sign him because he is an ideal forward for every side with great finishing prowess, is young, and fits the Blues policy.

Haaland is too young to have Alvarez as a backup. Alvarez is wasting the best years of his career on the bench. A striker of his calibre should be starting in every game because he has proven time and time again that he can be one of the best centre-forwards if given more time on the pitch.

Alvarez can use Cole Palmer as an example of someone who never got meaningful minutes on the pitch, made a tough decision, and came to Chelsea. Now look at him thriving and making a name for himself here, something the Argentine can do if he feels at City; he’s just wasting his peak years just sitting on the bench.

Last season, he appeared in 36 games in the league and still managed to record 11 goals and nine assists, which speaks volumes about his performance, and the Blues will be happy to have him as everything to be a Chelsea striker. But now the decision is up to him because he is already 24 and will enter his prime years.

PSG are interested in signing him but Chelsea will be a better move for him because Enzo Maresca knows his game. He already has his teammates there such as Palmer and Enzo Fernandez so he won’t find it hard to settle at the club and on top of that he will remain in the Premier League. He just cannot sit on the bench at City and continue to be used as a backup because Pep is always going to give preference to Haaland, who certainly stands out in terms of being the best striker at City.
