Chelsea are planning a move for French star Theo Hernandez
According to HITC (Football. London), Chelsea are keen on securing the services of French international star Theo Hernandez, whose outstanding performances got him a selection in the France Euro 2024 squad.
Without a doubt, the 26-year-old has the talent to help Chelsea, having established himself as an important member of AC Milan over the years. The star defender has made 213 appearances for Milan in all competitions and has even made a vital 68 G/A contribution for them.
The defender is under no obligation to leave AC Milan this summer, as his contract expires in 2026. If Chelsea want to entice them, they will need to present a generous offer.
Chelsea might be willing to let a key player go
Chelsea now have Marc Cucurella and Ben Chilwell, but it’s realistic to assume that the team would prefer to have an upgrade after poor defensive displays during the last season and would even be willing to let both players go.
After spending a substantial amount of money to bring Cucurella and Chilwell, the defenders have failed to prove their worth. Enzo Maresca’s system requires their full-backs to invert, or just push up, and involve themselves more in midfield than just defence and Hernandez seems fit for it.
The player may find signing with Chelsea to be an interesting possibility, but it’s unclear if the Blues will make a formal offer to sign him. It will be interesting to see how things play out because AC Milan will not want to let go of such an important player.
Moreover, Hernandez could also potentially be the appropriate replacement for Thiago Silva, who led Chelsea to great achievements and left them this summer. The Blues need to bring in a few quality leaders to guide all the youngsters into becoming future stars with mature gameplay.
