Chelsea face transfer dilemma regarding future of Ian Maatsen

According to Give Me Sport, Dortmund are preparing an offer close to £25 million, but Chelsea is still insistent that they will only authorize Ian Maatsen exit if a £35 million proposal is made.

Dortmund have decided not to enter into discussions since they believe they are the obvious leading prospect to obtain his services.

In a season full of highs and lows, one of the more notable tales has been the ascent of Chelsea loanee Ian Maatsen. The young Dutchman, who currently plays for Borussia Dortmund, has impressed enough to win a berth on the Champions League Team of the Season.

Chelsea stands firm on the £35 million price tag for Ian Maatsen. Burnley must decide: Is he worth the investment?

This not only recognizes his particular brilliance but also creates a big issue for Enzo Maresca and Chelsea management, given the club has set a fixed asking price of £35 million for the young full-back.

Maatsen’s loan at Dortmund has been nothing short of miraculous. Despite Maatsen’s heartbreaking error with a misjudged pass that sealed his team’s hopes for a comeback, he is right up there with regards to his performances.

The left-back has performed admirably throughout the season. His ability to combine defensive strength with offensive flair has made him an invaluable asset to Dortmund, and it’s no wonder that his achievements have been acknowledged on such a huge scale.

Ian Maatsen’s recognition in the Champions League Team of the Season highlights his exceptional talent and Chelsea’s successful loan strategy

Before his move to Dortmund, the 22-year-old signed a new long-term contract that ties him to his parent club until the summer of 2026, complicating matters for his suitors because it means the West Londoners are not under pressure to cash in before the summer transfer window closes.

More Chelsea news

It already looks doubtful that Maatsen will be given a chance to resurrect his Chelsea career. With a new manager though, it is a chance to wipe the slate clean and let’s see if Enzo Maresca fancies giving the Dutchman a run.
