Chelsea is in the race with Tottenham to sign Mykhaylo Mudryk’s friend
The attacking midfielder, Georgiy Sudakov of Shakhtar Donetsk, a close friend of Mykhaylo Mudryk, has elite clubs including Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur in line to secure his services this summer.
In January 2023, Mudryk moved from Shakhtar to Stamford Bridge for an incredible £88.5 million. Together, they participated in three years of Shakhtar team play and shared the international dressing room.
Considered one of the most gifted players in Ukraine, Sudakov is anticipated to close a significant financial deal. The reports claims that in the run-up to the summer transfer season, Chelsea and Spurs have had “frequent talks” with Shakhtar’s management.
For Shakhtar, Sudakov has played in the first team for over a century. On June 17, when Ukraine plays Romania in their opening group stage match of the Euro, he will be among the first names on the roster.
Sudakov was a key part of the Ukrainian club’s victories as he chipped in with 10 goals and six assists in 34 appearances during the recent season. This consistency in his gameplay attracted interests from several clubs including Tottenham and Chelsea.
But Chelsea might have an edge in the signing of Sudakov as he recently told iNews (h/t The Express) that how much he wants to play in the same team as his good friend Mudryk.
“We are in touch on a daily basis. He is a big friend of mine. Over the last two months he has played a lot more and has been much more successful. The beginning for him was quite tough, mentally and physically, but step by step he is getting there. When we play in the national team together I have seen how much he has grown as the season has progressed.”
“I was telling Misha (Mudryk) about how much I want to play in the Premier League and how it would be great to play in the same team. Misha told me that I was not ready for the kind of pressure that happens in England and if I do come I need to be ready for that. But I am.”
Chelsea also made an attempt to outshine the opposition by inviting Sergei Palkin, the chief of Shakhtar, to Stamford Bridge to attend their league encounter against Everton. It is quite understandable that Chelsea and Tottenham both have held discussions with the Ukrainian club to get ahead of the rivals.

With the skills and abilities like that of Sudakov’s, anyone should be willing to make a move to bigger clubs for an elite stage to showcase their performance to the football community. With a move to English clubs like Chelsea, the Ukrainian star will get a chance to do wonders in the Premier League and other major leagues and develop further as a player.
