Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall is on the radar for Chelsea as a successor to Gallagher if he exits Stamford Bridge upon the recommendations of Blues’ new head coach, Enzo Maresca, after the Italian impressed him in the Championship last season at Leicester, as reported by The Sun.
Conor Gallagher, who is anticipated to play a vital role in England’s Euro campaign, has only 12 months left on his deal with the West London club.
Gallagher is a fan favourite, and he was rated second only to Cole Palmer as Chelsea’s best player last season.
Despite pleas from supporters to sign him to a longer contract, no agreement has yet been reached.
The England International has interest from a number of teams, but Aston Villa have jumped to the top of the list, followed by Tottenham and Atletico Madrid.
The Villains believe he may be a valuable addition to the midfield, allowing them to build on their success from last season.
They also feel he is capable of moving up to Champions League football and would complement boss Unai Emery’s approach.
Maresca is interested in recruiting one of his former players to resolve Gallagher’s departure dilemma.
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, who was outstanding under Maresca at the King Power, is at the top of the list to fill Gallagher’s vacancy.
Dewsbury-Hall had 12 goals and 14 assists in 44 appearances this past season in the Championship.
While many would argue that Dewsbury-Hall might not be superior to Gallagher in terms of talent at the moment.
However, he seems like a logical addition to Maresca’s dire need to replace Gallagher since Chelsea cannot afford to keep spending large amounts of money, and this is where the Leicester City midfielder would help their case.
As of now, Chelsea’s ambitions with the 25-year-old seem to be disrupted as Manchester United will allegedly join the trade race for Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall according to sources at Express.
