Cesc Fabregas says N’Golo Kante made an immediate impression at Chelsea

Cesc Fabregas reveals how N’Golo Kante seamlessly became an instant hit at Chelsea when he joined the Blues after winning the Premier League with Leicester City and subsequently claimed another league title with the Blues.

Kante instantly made himself a household name and went on to become one of the best midfielders in the league. He further cemented his legacy under Thomas Tuchel, when he won Man Of The Match in the Champions League semi-final and final in 2021.

However, the midfielder was sold to the Saudi Pro League after he endured a frustrating season, suffering plenty of injuries, but since his call-up to the national team for Euro 2024, it feels like Kante is still cut above all after he won back-to-back MOTM.

Former Blues star Fabregas has great things to say to about his former teammate, (h/t Metro), speaking to the BBC:

‘’I will always come short of good things to say about N’Golo. I mean, what a player. When he first came to Chelsea after winning the league with Leicester, tactically he was good, but we saw him more as a corrector. But the most important thing and most special thing about him is the will to learn and the capacity to do it very fast and apply it on the pitch.’’

Kante’s time at Chelsea was wonderful, and he achieved everything there as a player. He was already one of the most exciting midfielders when we won the league with the Foxes, but certainly, he didn’t get much attention, and coming to Chelsea at least saw fans realise how good the 33-year-old was.

Fabregas knows how good Kante was as he played beside him at Chelsea. He is an underrated defensive midfielder who can cover the ground with his pace, and his technical play makes him a standout player and gets compared to other top midfielders.

He was a sweeper in the middle of the pitch who could connect the dots, bring fluidity to the game, and break opposition play. Now in Euros, he is proving that he is still one of the best defensive midfielders. Why did you even sell him, Chelsea?
