Ben Jacobs: Chelsea ‘seriously in conversation’ for 6’5 striker who could cost £45m

Ben Jacobs reveals Chelsea are keen on signing Benjamin Sesko

Chelsea are now making serious moves to acquire highly-rated striker Benjamin Sesko, as reported by transfer journalist Ben Jacobs. The 20-year-old has had an impressive season, netting 18 goals across all competitions. His standout quality is his finishing ability from various positions on the pitch.

The Blues are considering a move for Sesko, who could be available for a relatively modest fee of £45 million. This potential signing is particularly intriguing given Sesko’s recognized talent and knack for scoring, a quality Chelsea has lacked in a clinical striker.

Standing at 6’5″, Sesko not only brings physical strength but also notable quickness, making him a formidable presence on the field. Jacobs emphasized that strikers like Sesko are well-suited for the Premier League, heightening the excitement around Chelsea’s interest. Speaking to GiveMeSport, Jacobs provided further insights into Chelsea’s pursuit of the young forward.

“Chelsea, I expect to be seriously involved in the Sesko conversation as well. And then PSG are going to have to decide whether or not they want to try for a Sesko player or a profile of his nature, whether they want to put a lot of their saved Mbappe money towards Victor Osimhen, or whether they want to enter the conversation for Rafael Leao.’’

This move aligns with Chelsea’s broader strategy of investing in promising young players to secure their future attacking options. By targeting Sesko, Chelsea aims to build a sustainable squad with a mix of youth and experience, focusing on long-term success. PSG, meanwhile have a Kylian Mbappe sized holeto fill and could prove to be dogged comeptitors for his signature.

Chelsea heavily keen on signing Benjamin Sesko.

Sesko’s possession-based style of football makes him an ideal fit for Enzo Maresca’s tactical approach, benefiting both the player and the team. In systems that emphasize strict positional play, players who maintain discipline in their roles are essential. Sesko’s quickness and ability to execute penetrating runs add a dynamic edge to his play, making him incredibly effective in breaking through defenses.

The youngster exemplifies the modern No. 9 with his smooth turning, rapid footwork, and skilful flicks. While dribbling and looking good in confined situations are not always necessary for a striker, the ability to link up with teammates, maintain play, and be productive in these scenarios is crucial—and this is where Sesko excels.

His game is designed with efficiency in mind, making him a highly effective forward who can seamlessly integrate into team play while maintaining a high level of individual skill. Hopefully Chelsea can get the deal over line as it could be a gamechanger for the Blue half od London.
