A View From The Bridge

Recalling the time when Chelsea legend received WWE belt to celebrate 2017 PL triumph as Bayer Leverkusen receive similar honour

Bayer Leverkusen received a WWE belt, which might be nostalgic for Chelsea fans

The amazing gold WWE Championship belt that Leverkusen received for winning the Bundesliga has been made public by Triple H, WWE’s chief content officer. Leverkusen side plates are also a component of the belt.

It is a tribute from Triple H to the German club for their outstanding display of talent throughout the season. The WWE star gave this belt as an honour for the club’s amazing undefeated Bundesliga title spree.

The team led by Xabi Alonso stunned the whole football community by setting a record in Europe by winning 51 games without a loss. They also won their first-ever Bundesliga title by a commanding margin.

Triple H took to his social media to make his tribute to the German club public. He wrote:

“Congratulations to Bayer Leverkusen on becoming Bundesliga Champions for the first time ever after an incredible, historic UNDEFEATED season. Time to celebrate like the champions you are… good luck in tomorrow’s German Cup final, and we’ll see you this August for WWE Bash In Berlin.”

This instance could make Chelsea fans feel a bit nostalgic, as the Blues also received this honour in 2017 to celebrate their Premier League title triumph. The 2017 Chelsea captain, John Terry was beaming when he received this honour.

Terry received the custom-made strap from Hunter Hearst Helmsley, who has won 14 WWE world titles himself. Terry was thrilled to receive the present. Chelsea grabbed their fifth League title standing at 93 points, which is seven points ahead of runner-up Tottenham.

Terry is in pure joy to receive this honour

However, that was the last time Chelsea saw the Premier League cup in their hands. This season also ended trophy-less for them. They ended the current Premier League campaign in sixth place, barely making a concrete chance to qualify for the European league.

More Chelsea news

As for Bayer Leverkusen, unfortunately, their dream 51-win run came to an abrupt halt on May 23 in Dublin as they lost the UEFA Europa League Final against Atalanta 3-0, ending their chances of getting a treble.
