Chelsea have slashed Armando Broja’s asking price in the hope of generating pure profit from his exit. The Blues earlier slapped a £50 million value on the forward, but with no suitors willing to watch the forward’s asking price, which saw the Blues lower his price to £30 million.
The club loaned Broja to Fulham in January in the hopes that his performance and playing time would increase his market worth; however, neither of those things materialised as he saw very few playing minutes.
Broja will return to Chelsea, but his future doesn’t lie at the club, as they are open to selling the forward in the summer to balance the books and meet Premier League profit and sustainability rules.
Wolves and West Ham United have expressed interest in signing the 22-year-old, but it’s unlikely both sides will be willing to accept his revised price, The Blues may need to lower it even further if they want to make money, or the club can wait until July for the Euros to conclude as Broja will compete and Chelsea will be hoping that his performance boosts his stock.
However, it might complicate matters as Chelsea hopes to make some profit before June 30th. The club will have to make a decision on Broja’s future soon; otherwise, they could breach league PSG guidelines.
Interested clubs are set to test our patients because they can wait beyond June 30 to sign the forward, while Chelsea have to offload the forward before the due date if they want to balance the book.
This is a big headache for the club, and they will have to make a final decision, which will be to either slash the price tag more or wait till the end of the Euro in the hope that strikers will display better performances, which will raise the stock further.
The latter could prove to be a risky decision because we don’t know if Broja is fit enough because he has barely played this season, Thus it will be better to go with the former decision and slash the price tag because he isn’t the only player Chelsea will sell in the summer.
