Mauricio Pochettino says Chelsea season won’t be successful despite their finish in Premier League this season

Chelsea bolstered their chances of securing a European spot after thrashing West Ham United 5-0 at Stamford Bridge. It took the Blues only 15 minutes to break the deadlock after Cole Palmer put Chelsea ahead as they embarked on a goal-galore match.

The Blues extended their lead when Conor Gallagher volleyed the ball before Noni Madueke made sure the Blues were taking all three points, though more was yet to come as Nicolas Jackson recorded a brace to round off a wholly positive afternoon for the Blues.

With just three matches to go, the Blues seem to have picked up their form at the right moment if they want to secure a European spot for next season, as they are now just two points shy of sixth-placed Newcastle.

However, Pochettino believes the Blues’ current season won’t be successful even if they achieve a European spot next season, (h/t Football. London), as he further told the reporters after the game:

“But I cannot say it will be a successful season if you do not win a title here at Chelsea. Again, the expectation is always to win titles with Chelsea. Circumstances showed that reality was really, really tough from day one to today.’’

He has a point because we cannot have European ambitions. After all, Chelsea’s aim is to always end the season with a trophy, and that hasn’t been the case for two years now. However, this season we did come close to winning silverware, but we were just unlucky, and with just three games left, we hope to finish the season on a strong note.

Chelsea always enjoys on winning trophies, so we need to get everything right for the upcoming season—from player acquisition to Pochettino’s tactical tweaks. Hopefully, in the summer, we will make better additions to shore up the other positions where we have appeared vulnerable.
